THE LIBERAL SOUL

All us saints
We’re so distracted
So all complaints
Become directed
Toward All small groups
That aren’t protected
By all the people
Who aren’t affected
All around the world
Whoever you are
You have the right to be saved
It’s like buying a car
You can walk right in
Say, “It’s my turn now”
Lay down your sin
And in the Throne Room bow
Now Take A Bow
Who’s to say
What your path should
Look like today
And what would be good
Who’s to scream
Up in your face
You’re not to dream
You’re out of place
All around the world
Whoever you are
You have the right to be saved
The journey’s not that far
You can turn around
See Jesus now
Lay down your life
And in the Throne Room bow
Now Take A Bow
All us saints
We’re so distracted
So all complaints
Become directed
Toward all small groups
That aren’t protected
By all the people
Who aren’t affected
Flipping channels I caught the news
11pm on a Tuesday night
Convenience store, surveillance camera
A minor robbery, a tragic fight
A Vietnamese man comes to America
To find his fortune on our golden streets
Shot and killed over fifty bucks
Bled to death by the frozen meats
In San Bernardino
The doors were locked
Open 24 hours
Unless we’re shot
In San Bernardino
We never close
Unless we die
Unless we die
Will I ever be the same?
Will I ever close my eyes?
Afraid to sleep, afraid to dream
Afraid he’ll hear my muted cries
`Cause he was looking right at me
No one else but right at me
“People die here every day
You never pray, you never pray
Instead you only watch TV!”
In San Bernardino
The doors were locked
Open 24 hours
Unless we’re shot
In San Bernardino
We never close
Unless we die
There’s monsters in the street
Seems like every one you meet is scary
All they want is your money
All they want is some honey to carry
You think that by walking away
They’ll go away someday
I hate to say
They’re here to stay
The monsters are here to stay
‘Cause there’s a Fire in the forest
There’s a Fire in the poorhouse
There’s a Fire in the storehouse
And God’s people are running away
I’m ashamed to say I know you
I disdain and abhor you
Still I call you my brother
My brother, my father, my sister, my mother
You think that by walking away
I’ll go away someday
I hate to say
I’m here to stay
I hate to say I’m here to stay
‘Cause there’s a Fire in the forest
There’s a Fire in the poorhouse
There’s a Fire in the storehouse
Will you still find time to run away
When he calls your name and number that day
When you realize that we stand alone
When you realize that you have not grown
In Jesus Christ and His saving love
‘Cause you settled for nothing
Called just enough
You settled for nothing!
You think that by walking away
He’ll go away someday
I hate to say
He’s here to stay
Jesus Christ is here to stay
‘Cause there’s a Fire in the forest…
(From Psalm 40)
I waited patiently for the Lord
And He heard my cry
He brought me up out of the pit
And established my steps
He put a new song in my mouth
"Praise to our God!"
Many will see it and fear
And will trust in the Lord
Blessed is the man
Who makes the Lord His trust
Who does not respect the proud
Nor turn aside to lies
Many Lord are your wonderful works
That You have done
And Your thoughts which are toward us
They cannot be recounted
See lonely faces
It makes my heart to burn
See empty vacant eyes
Eyes have been crying
Tell them about Jesus
"I'm too afraid right now"
Trust me they'll listen
Hearts have been opened
Heal these people!
Heal these people!
We walk through fire
Sometimes for others
All of our trials
Some go unnoticed
And every Sunday
We see our family
Hiding their sorrow
In their best clothing
Heal these people!
Heal these people!
Teach us to listen
Eyes must be opened
The Liberal Soul shall be made fat
And he that watereth
Shall be watered also himself
So feed my lambs and I’ll feed you
In much wisdom is much pain
And he that increases
Knowledge increases sorrow
So heal my lambs and I’ll heal you
Feed my lambs and I’ll feed you
